Abstract

The Student International Animation Festival 2002 featured a compilation of films from 8 countries ' all made by students and first time filmmakers on the very cutting edge of the art form. As co-director, producer and fund-raiser for the event, I organised the venue, technical duties and marketing for the evening. In compiling the program, the organisers have been in touch with more than 400 universities and film and art schools all over the world. More than 1000 films were looked at in the lead-up to selecting the final program. The festival premiered at the Wal Fife Theatre, Charles Sturt University, Wagga Wagga at 7PM on Wednesday May 22nd, 2002, and featured a Best of the Festival and Computer Animation Panorama. This event was the first of its kind and later evolved into an annual screening exclusive to Wagga Wagga.
