Abstract

I looked for historical images of people in asylums in chairs – there are surprisingly few – pictures of patients seated are usually on the floor or beds. Some of these images are of patients undergoing treatment where the chair had a specific function. With the stitching I just tried “random threads” and “loose endings”.

I’ve also been thinking about the use of participants interview data and how I might create soundscapes with fragments of their words. There are two short soundscapes that attempt to create a mood and convey fragmented stories.
