Abstract

Clinical decision-making includes selecting among the numerous intervention approaches for children with speech sound disorders. A Phonological Intervention Taxonomy can help guide SLPs discovery of the range of intervention approaches, understanding of the unique elements comprising individual approaches, and ability to faithfully implement elements within approaches. This session will examine issues and processes for guiding clinicians’ implementation of phonological interventions. Learner Outcome(s): Describe the structure of the Phonological Intervention Taxonomy Explain how the Phonological Intervention Taxonomy can be used to support and teach clinical decision-making skills. Discuss the issues and processes associated with clinicians learning how to faithfully implement a variety of phonological interventions Keywords: Speech sound disorders, Phonological intervention, Clinical decision-making, Taxonomy, Pedagogy
