    Abstract

A study was conducted to identify potentially immunogenetically informative individuals on the basis of epidemiological susceptibility or resistance to Schistosoma japonicum infection and provide further evidence for age-dependent resistance to reinfection by S. japonicum. After a cross-sectional survey in 1996, a total of 250 individuals living on the two islands (Qingshan and Yanjiashan) of Dongting Lake in China were selected for praziquantel treatment and a 2-year follow-up study.
