Abstract

The information provided in this report came from research that was undertaken for the NSW Police Force to provide a review of the relevant world-wide ‘active shooter’ literature to identify: what makes a situation an ‘active shooter’ incident; the characteristics of previous ‘active shooter’ incidents, how they have been dealt with, and what has been found to work; and current ‘best practice’ for police in dealing effectively with an ‘active shooter’ incident.
