Abstract
Optometrists play a key role in achieving effective treatment for patients with neovascular age related macular degeneration. Better visual acuity at initiation of anti-VEGF therapy is associated with better long-term visual outcomes, making early detection and prompt referral vital. Education and practical support programs for both patient and carer can help achieve treatment adherence over the long term.
