Abstract
This report presents a compilation of the output and discoveries from the MLA funded project, AgriBenchmark 2014. It provides the agri benchmark network's perspectives on recent global beef and sheep developments, the economics and drivers facing producers around the world, farm profitability (globally and in network countries) and views on likely future developments and challenges. It then addresses the question of how competitive are Australian beef and sheepmeat producers and what are the main areas where productivity differentiates? This is achieved through the updating of the existing network of Australian 'typical' farms and the establishment of an additional northern beef 'typical' farm, and their global comparison against key biophysical and economic measures of performance. It also presents key findings and outputs from workshops undertaken during the 2014 international agri benchmark beef and sheep network conference.
