'Always already implicated': Christian hermeneutics in a violent world

Research output: Book chapter/Published conference paperChapter

Abstract

Christian theology in its thinking and practice, is implicated in structures of domination, discrimination and exclusion. It does serve interests. The question is, which ones? This chapter seeks hermeneutical guidance for accepting the Christian tradition as it is given to us from the past, while critiquing it for its ideologies and its contribution towards violence. It seeks instead to hand on the tradition better than we have received it, so that it may contribute toward peace and well being in its public effect.
