Abstract
The focus of 2008 Lambeth Conference was the role of the bishop in the contemporary world. This article introduces the idea of spiritual and ecclesial intelligence and then considers the matter of fundamentals and criteria for judgments in the Church. The final section of the article discusses the various contributions from the Lambeth bishops, in terms of criteria for assessing the ecclesial and spiritual intelligence of the Communion.
