Abstract
It can be argued that the United States has benefited, and continues to benefit from highly talented expatriate Australians. Well-known Australian/Americans include: Errol Flynn (1909 ' 1959) actor and naturalized US Citizen in 1942; Rupert Murdoch (1931 - ), CEO of News Corporation and naturalized American citizen in 1985; and New York Times cartoonist Patrick Oliphant (1934 ' ) immigrated to the US in 1984. Others include: Darren Bennett (1965 ' ) member of the NFL 1990s All-Decade Team; Portia de Rossi (1973 ' ) actress and wife of American comedienne and talkshow personality Ellen DeGeneres; actor and musician Rick Springfield (1949 ' ) naturalized American citizen in 2006; Melissa George (1976). actress and naturalized American citizen in 2008, among others.
