    Abstract

This project investigated the reaction of various players in the vocational training and education (VET) sector to the provisions in the Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF) relating to teaching and teaching qualifications. It is a relatively small study of a very recent change in VET sector regulation. Information was collected from State Training Authority personnel and TAFE representatives in two Australian states, and from a number of non-TAFE registered Training organisations (RTOs). In addition a questionnaire was circulated to a small number of teachers and trainers working in RTOs. This paper focuses on the effects of the AQTF standards for RTOs, which relate to teaching and assessment, and the qualifications of staff who carry out teaching and assessment.
