Abstract
The article presents a research study conducted by researchers Sally Knipe and Rae Hussey. Transition from primary school into high school is a process that involves students adjusting from one form of education to a different style of schooling that is both geographically varied and structurally diverse. Despite efforts of schools to ensure Year 6 students have a smooth transition into Year 7, it would appear that there is a small percentage of young people that are 'at risk' of not making a successful transition. In 2003, a record number of volunteers are participating in the mentor program throughout the Albury school district.
