Abstract

Leadership, teamwork, critical thinking, problem solving, managerial skills and communication among others, have been identified as key employability skills for 21st century graduates. This paper presents the case study of an undergraduate subject where developing students’ teamwork and leadership skills is the specific purpose. A new assessment approach called Interactive Oral Assessment (IOA) (Sotiriadou, Logan, Daly, & Guest, 2020) was scaffolded with other assessments to teach and assess students' knowledge and ability to facilitate team success. This paper discusses the advantages of scaffolded interactive oral assessment in areas of capturing teamwork competencies and leadership capabilities.
