Abstract
The author assesses piracy as a security threat to offshore petroleum installations and analyses how the international legal framework addresses piracy in the context of offshore petroleum installations. The author attempts to answer the key question of whether an act of piracy can be committed against an offshore petroleum installation in the legal sense.
