Abstract

Miniaturized four port multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) antenna with electronically reconfigurable WiMAX band-stop capability is proposed for ultra-wideband (UWB) application. The elements of MIMO antenna system exhibit good impedance match (VSWR ≤ 2), while offering high ports isolation (S12 ≤ -20 dB) over the whole ultra-wideband spectrum. Moreover, reconfigurable band-notch capability at WiMAX (3.2-3.8 GHz) frequency band is achieved by switching the PIN diode to ‘ON’ state. The antenna is fabricated and measured as well, and the results suggest that the proposed antenna design with switchable WiMAX band-notch characteristics is a suitable candidate for UWB-MIMO applications.
