Abstract
This chapter reflects on the content and core ideas presented in this volume and on social development into the future. Although it presents an overall optimistic view regarding the future of social development, field realities are often complex and contradictory, and call for the genuine commitment of people and their leaders at all levels. A value-oriented vision and actions are crucial in contemporary societies at local and global levels, and we believe that ideas inherent in social development offer opportunities for bettering lives and promoting universal development.
