Abstract

This presentation by two inaugural members of the Indo-Pacific Cooperation Network established by the Australian Institute of International Affairs and the Japan Foundation, focuses on enhancing disaster resilience across the Indo-Pacific. The network aims to harness partnerships between researchers, policymakers, and practitioners in tackling the multifaceted challenges posed by disasters through a series of hybrid meetings, community engagements, disaster sites visits, and dialogue with diverse stakeholders in Japan, Australia, Fiji and Tonga. The speakers reflect on their experiences in the network, and specifically discuss lessons learned on the intersection of disaster resiliency with planetary health, gender justice, and peacebuilding.
