Abstract

Charles Sturt University presented the fourth cohort of graduates from the Animation and Visual Effects degree on Sunday 22nd October, 2012 with an official premiere of their newly released films. Since the entering the degree in 2010, the students had evolved from basic hand-drawn 2D art through to sophisticated internationally-competitive 3D animations over 3 dedicated years. Embracing the rich history of traditional animation with the latest advances in industry-leading software, the students had meticulously crafted every frame (often with many layers) for the audience. The edit was 45 minutes runtime representing over 67,000 frames of work. As executive producer I organised the event and compiled the films in Full HD 1080p and encoded the films to be compatible with the custom Forum 6 Cinema system. Several films have now gone on to be independently selected for the Melbourne International Animation Festival 2013.
