Investigation with the crude ethanolic extract of Zanthoxylum budrunga leaves was carried out to evaluate its possible thrombolysis and cytotoxic activity. Pharmacological history of this plant promoted us to check the possible thrombolytic and cytotoxic activity. A quick & rapid methodology (In-vitro Thrombolytic model) was applied to find out the clot lysis effect of ethanolic extract of Zanthoxylum budrunga leaves. Streptokinase and water was employed as a positive and negative control in this model respectively. Zanthoxylum budrunga alone & Zanthoxylum budrunga in combination with Streptokinase demonstrated 44.64±2.78% & 74.23±1.79% clot lysis effect respectively & revealed significant with comparison to both the control agent. By using the brine shrimp lethality bioassay method, the LC 50 & LC90 values of Zanthoxylum budrunga were assayed. In this study, DMSO was used as solvent & Vincristine sulphate as positive control. The extract evidenced cytotoxic activity against brine shrimp nauplii and the calculated LC50 & LC90 value was 72.44 μg/ml and 380.19 μg/ml respectively.
