De Avonturen van Asterix en de kerncentrale

Asterix and the core sentrale ..or the law of the jungle is a well known (and probably best known) underground comic book. It was immensely popular in the late 70s / early 80s and was the first in a veritable whirlwind of parodies of famous cartoon characters. The origin of Asterix and the nuclear power plant is not in the Netherlands: it was first published in Vienna, Austria, as Asterix und das Atomkraftwerk in the autumn of 1978. The -illegale- strip was immediately popular and an initial circulation of 10,000 copies was sold out in a few weeks. By (West) Germany and the Netherlands also reached the strip beginning in June 1979 there was a Dutch version: "Asterix and the core sentrale.
