    Abstract

This paper examines what the literature recommends as essential features in a preservice teacher education course on rural education. The resulting set of recommendations then formed the basis for a mapping process in which the opinions and views of what teacher educators, experienced rural teachers and pre-service teacher education students identified as essential inclusions in a pre-service course. This analysis revealed a range of similarities as well as differences between the groups which will be explored during this presentation.
