    Abstract

The production of Dracula, adapted by Liz Lochhead and directed by Kim Hardwick (CSU lecturer in Acting) was performed in the drama 2 studio in Performing arts at CSU Wagga Wagga in August 2013. I took upon the role of lighting designer, normally fulfilled by a third year design student, due to their being an unusually small year group with limited focus on lighting. This however lent me the opportunity to teach the second and first year students in lighting roles in a direct and authentic way, as well as demonstrate to the other students (who are required to see each others productions) my skills in a "real life" environment rather than a classroom. I also hoped to demonstrate techniques and theories which had been spoken of in class, the main principle for lighting design being "Does it help tell the story".
