Abstract

Increasing public health costs associated with hospitalization, an increasing aged population with a greater prevalence of chronic disease and a shortage of specialists in rural and remote areas requires more economic ways of identifying individuals at risk of an adverse cardiac event. Targeted population screening such as those with chronic illness may provide better specificity and sensitivity for cardiovascular disease using an ECG assessment.
