Abstract
The subject matter of five articles discussed in this issue relates to some of the problems identified by the United Nations. These include the role of community-based ethnic organisations and their leaders in the US; women in the informal sector in India; re-entry of teen-age mothers in the school system in Zimbabwe; internally led community development to address unemployment and poverty issues; and meeting housing needs of internally displaced persons in the Philippines. It also includes two book reviews.
