Effects of passive stretching and explosive countermovement-jumps on spinal reflex excitability in physically active adults

Research output: Other contribution to conferenceAbstractpeer-review

Abstract

Introduction: Passive stretching (PS) and fatigue-inducingexplosive efforts (EE) are both regular components of preparationand participation in sporting activities for physically active adults.Whilst the influence of long-duration PS and single-joint exerciseinduced fatigue on spinal reflex excitability (SRE) has been assessedvia the Hoffman reflex (H-reflex), no studies have used protocolsecologically valid to performance or clinical settings. Therefore, theaim of this study was to examine the acute effects of short-durationPS and repeated multi-joint, sports-specific EE on SRE in healthy, physically active adults.
