Abstract
Rapid advances in nanotechnology have extended the variability and applicability of nanocomposites. Polymer matrix, as well as natural or chemically synthesized inorganic materials, has been gaining popularity and acceptability as filler in the formulation of polymer nanocomposites. In recent years, polymer nanocomposites have developed significant interest as a potential field in science and technology, including automotive, defense, biomedical, packaging, drug delivery, food and food technology, biotechnology, architecture, aerospace, microelectronic device and sensors, textiles, adhesives, and coatings. Most importantly, polymer nanocomposites have expanded great remedial impacts on human health and the environment. Along with these, the ever-increasing trend of using polymer nanocomposites is of great concern regarding its detrimental impacts on human health and the environment. This chapter aims to discuss the impacts of polymer nanocomposites on human health and the environment through a comparative insight of remedial as well as toxicological perspectives.
