Research output: Other contribution to conferencePresentation only

Abstract

The health sector, whose mandate is to prevent and cure disease, makes a significant contribution to the global global climate crisis. Environmental and social sustainability in healthcare is important because it supports the tackling of upstream determinants of health, benefits consumers, health service providers and health workforce, decreases environmental health risks and helps reduce the costs and increases the resilience of health systems. The WHO strategic document identifies several avenues for action on environmental and social sustainability in health systems which we can all support and implement in small ways to contribute to the ripple effect.
