Abstract

My contribution to Michael Agzarian's exhibition was an original contextual essay. This essay was a critique and commentary on the historic and contemporary context of photographic portraiture in Egypt, and how such images have been received by Western audiences in the wake of the January 2011 Revolution. This was delivered as an opening speech and subsequently published as an online record of the touring photographic portrait exhibition "Cairo Daze".
