Abstract

The climate crisis is being caused by a number of anthropocenic problems, including greenhouse gases or heattrapping gases and carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Temperatures are rising and the poles are being affected more quickly with glaciers rapidly melting. Even if all the nations of the world slashed their emissions scientists predict that half the world’s glaciers will have melted by the end of the century. The aim of this series of mixed media works is to bring attention to this crisis – we need to pay more attention to the shrinkage of glaciers in the Arctic Circle and Antarctica. The works are based on cyanotypes of glacial images with human made objects, embroidery, beading and found objects.
