HealthiERSIm

HealthiERSim is designed to address this gap by providing a customisable simulated eHR system that offers authentic learning experiences integrated into the curriculum. It fosters the development of digital health skills, critical reasoning abilities, patient-centred care, and communication. HealthiERSim empowers healthcare programs to offer students realistic eHR experiences, preparing them for collaborative, technology-enabled clinical practice. Our solution has been developed through active engagement with healthcare professionals, students, and educational stakeholders to understand their needs, challenges, and expectations, ensuring it aligns with Australia's National Digital Health Strategy.

Benefits of HealthiERSim

HealthiERSim offers several benefits. It is easy to use and learn, with an intuitive interface designed to support student learning across extensive class sizes and varying levels of technological expertise. The platform is flexible and can seamlessly integrate with existing simulation learning environments, adapting to specific curriculum requirements. Developed in line with the National Digital Health Strategy, it prioritises equipping the future healthcare workforce with digital proficiency. Additionally, HealthiERSim is easily scalable, as demonstrated by the successful deployment and testing of a minimum viable product (MVP) version with over 2000 users across five regional campuses of Charles Sturt University. Feedback from academic staff and healthcare students has been invaluable in guiding the prioritisation of additional features for future development.

Intellectual Property

The intellectual property of HealthiERSim includes the program source code, manuals, and methodology as per university policy is the property of Charles Sturt University. HealthiERSim has been trademarked (name and logo). The successful application was paid for by funding from the School of Nursing, Paramedicine and Healthcare science (AU TM application 2433634 and 2433635). Dr Pauletta Irwin and Ms Amy Barnett are recognised as the dual designers and developers; the creators of HealthiERSim.

Achievements

The HealthiERSim MVP has been successfully tested with over 2000 real users here at Charles Sturt University. With the successful deployment and use, HealthiERSim is assessed to be at Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 6.
