High And Low Achievers 'Performance Attribution in EFL Classes-Ethiopia

Abstract

The main aim of this study was to examine student's learning English as a foreign language at Adama town government high schools in Ethiopia and to see into its pedagogical implications. It aimed at investigating the perceived causes of success and failure of ability groups. In order for the present researcher to meet the aims and objectives of the study, data were gathered through testing, questionnaire and interview from purposively and randomly selected sample population i.e. 147 grade nine students. Thorough review of literature was also made to arrive at the research gap. Besides, descriptive statistics, principal component analysis and T-test were carried out for detailed analysis of the data. So, efforts were made to seek empirical answers for the causal factors to which high and low achievers attribute their success and failure.
