    Abstract

Hipbone Sticking Out by Bighart premiered at Canberra Theatre Centre in July 2013. The 3 hour performance explores the history of the Western Invasion of the Pilbara region through the eyes of an indigenous man who 30 years ago died in police custody there. His family consulted and performed in the production along with an international cast and many indigenous community members. I was invited to be the head electrician and operator on the production as I have strong connections to the company and was considered an excellent candidate for tackling the more extensive technology they dedicated to this performance. For me it was an excellent opportunity to refresh my industry skills and contacts, one of our third year students became an intern on the production and I learnt some new skills to bring back to teach here at CSU.
