Abstract

Internationally, COVID-19 forced educational reform, disrupted already strained field education systems, and increased the pressure upon educators and industry-based professionals to develop creative options for field education placements. Field educators are urgently addressing two interlinked global trends: that workplace learning is radically changing in an unknown ways; and the consequent immediate need to create innovative placement options with limited guidance. Many are looking towards technology for options and solutions. In this presentation, members of the International Network of Co-operative Inquirers will examine the research question: How can technology support field education placements across distance? This exploration includes an overview of the co-operative inquiry research method and examines case studies drawn from co-operative inquiry processes. Key considerations will be presented from co-operative inquiries examining the use of technology in innovative placements across distance in Australia, Canada, and Ireland.
