Abstract
The use of procurement policy to stimulate supply chain innovation (SCI) outcomes has the potential to address sustainability problems. While compliance with new procurement requirements in support of sustainability, in the short-term, engenders additional production and operational costs to suppliers, these costs are often absorbed by offering such innovative products to buyers at price premiums. In the public sector settings, however, procurement managers assign high value to authority and are therefore less likely to pay such price premiums for sustainability. This situation engenders a disincentive among suppliers to bid for government-sustainable innovative contracts. Our paper explores how networks created from procurement and innovation policies facilitate SCI. We opted out from publishing this paper in the 37th ANZAM proceedings as co-authors are considering another outlet instead.

Other | The 37th ANZAM Conference is hosted by the Faculty of Business and Law, University of Wollongong. Our theme, “Celebrating Management Research, its Impact and Future”, is an opportunity to share the meaningful impact and contributions of management research to organisations, communities and society. In addition, it seeks to explore and challenge the status-quo and future of management research and practice in an increasingly transparent moral landscape. This conference challenges all management scholars to consider an innovative future for the field based on the impact our discipline has had over the intervening years and the challenges ahead. We encourage you to consider and address the question: “What is the impact of management research on organisations and how will this shape the future of management research?” |
