Abstract
This work was exhibited in the group exhibition FLOE, at the SIM:The Association Icelandic Visual, residency in Reykjavik, Iceland. The exhibition featured work by 7 international artists undertaking a visual arts residency in September 2012. The work was part of the Tourism telemetry project which explores the humble souvenir as a form of telemetry ' transmitting distant receptions into the stations of everyday life. Employing the lens of tourism and cultural identity in order to challenge notions of place, home, utopias and 'remote' islands, the project constructs a series of intriguing narratives between the islands of Iceland and Tasmania, the southern island-state of Australia.
