    Abstract

Subset of 102 parents interviewed to ascertain role GP plays in managing their child's food allergy. Over 54% viewed relationship negatively (lack of support, inability to get referrals, didn't want to get involved) as relationship paternalistic and condescending. Remaining felt valued, treated management holistically including looking at quality of life indices. Ways to improve include GP education, provision of fact sheets in surgeries, active listening.
