Incidence of neonatal disease in Thoroughbred and Standardbred foals in SE Australia

Research output: Other contribution to conferenceAbstract

Abstract

There is currently limited information available on fundamental production parameters such as disease morbidity andfoal mortality in Australia. Regional, climatic or geographical peculiarities, differences in study design, and variation inindustry practices limit extrapolation of available information from overseas studies. There is a requirement, therefore,to establish this information within the Australian context. The aims of the present study were to develop baselineinformation on neonatal mortality and disease incidence, types of foal disease, and risk factors for foal disease onAustralian breeding farms.
