Abstract

In this paper we make two important contributions (1) we extend the basic BDI architecture so as to include an action-base with temporal durations (2) extend the existing classical planning cycle in BDI with temporal planning using our GeneratePlan method. The main motivation is to make BDI-like systems capable of handling plan failures in a much more efficient way by extracting plans when relevant plans are not found in the plan library. To show the feasibility of our method we implemented our planning algorithms with respect to a travel planning scenario.
