Abstract
Submarine pipelines are subject to complex working loads, environmental loads, and accident risks for a long time and have excellent failure probability. The underwater dry maintenance method can apply the land maintenance technology to the seabed and achieve the maintenance quality on the land. Therefore, we designed a dry cabin for underwater operations that can achieve pipeline inspection and repair. For pipeline inspection, a 3D laser scanning mechanism was designed to map the external features of the pipeline, and an ultrasonic non-destructive detection mechanism was designed to detect metal internal defects such as pipeline corrosion and cracks. For pipeline repair, a composite material winding mechanism was designed to wrap and reinforce the pipeline. Moreover, establishing a stable seal between the dry cabin and the pipeline is a prerequisite for safe underwater dry operations. Therefore, a new type D seal strip composed of rubber and EPDM foam was designed. The comprehensive optimal structure of seal strip wasobtained based on the Response Surface Methodology. In the near future, we will carry out sea trial application to verify the functions of the device

Other | Join your colleagues from industry, academia, and government at the 43rd International Conference on Ocean, Offshore and Arctic Engineering (OMAE® 2024) in Singapore from June 9 - 14, 2024. Regardless of your role, OMAE provides an opportunity to meet industry leaders, connect with peers, and advance your career. Recent OMAE participants cited the event's balance of high-quality technical sessions and opportunities to connect with globally recognized experts from industry and academia as a key reason why they plan to attend again. Most OMAE 2023 participants said the event was better or much better than comparable ocean, offshore, and arctic engineering events. For over four decades, the OMAE conference has been the premiere annual event to showcase leading edge innovations and technological achievements in offshore engineering. OMAE is where researchers present new advances in offshore and ship structures, reliable production methods, ocean engineering technology, and arctic sciences. And recently OMAE has expanded to highlight research on offshore wind and solar energy, digitalization in key offshore operations, incorporation of advanced analytical techniques, and successful implementation of new technologies in the field. |
