Abstract

The chapter includes a brief review of normal avian skin and covers diseases of the skin. These include congenital disease, infectious disease, noninfectious disease, and neoplasia. Infectious diseases include parasitic, mycotic, bacterial, and viral diseases. Noninfectious conditions including nutritional/metabolic disorders, physical and environmental agents, endocrinopathies, hypersensitivity, and miscellaneous conditions are described and illustrated. Epithelial and mesenchymal neoplasms, as well as lymphoma, melanocytic tumors, and tumors of uncertain origin are covered. Non-neoplastic proliferative conditions are also described.
