Interactive orals: an alternative assessment approach to assessing student learning and enhancing academic integrity

Research output: Other contribution to conferencePresentation only

    Abstract

This session is focussed on introducing participants to an alternative assessment approach called the Interactive Orals. The Interactive Oral Assessment model is designed to achieve three key objectives; student engagement, employability skills, and enhanced academic integrity (Sotiriadou et al., 2019). This is an authentic assessment method where the academic/s and the student/s engage in a scenario-based conversation aligned to the students’ future profession. It enhances academic integrity and offers academics the opportunity to assess students’ knowledge and skills that may not be easily assessable via other forms of assessments such as examinations, multiple-choice questions, or essay and reports. In this session you will learn about the journey of embedding IOs in a range of subjects.
