Introduction: Communication and learning; Two sides of the same coin

This chapter is the introductory first chapter in the book and relates to practising purposeful enquiry through communication that requires constant attention especially when working in human services and social work. The chapter is concerned mainly with three things: praxis; critical reflection, and extra-dimensional communication. The premise made here is that thinking about communication requires constant attention to learning and shifting our lens to capture as much as possible within our own vision at least. Learning and communication go naturally together; hand in hand, or like two sides of the same coin. When we learn something, the best way to consolidate that learning is to talk about it, write about it, or read some more about it, and we do this through communicating thoughts and ideas.
