Abstract
This article identifies key elements and themese emerging in theological education in a number of African and oceania contexts. The article examines how this is related to a particular national church's sense of identity and mission in the world. The article notes the increasing mix in theological educators, the importance of contextualization, the impact of the broader social and political scene, the focus on mission and the nature of conflict in theological education.
