Abstract

Virtual reality exposure therapy (VRET) is a promising modality for the treatment of anxiety disorders. The aim of this paper is to acquaint the reader with the application of VRET within the general dental practice. We present two case reports of successful use of VRET in the treatment of dental phobia of an adult and a pediatric patient. The essential setup, advantages and limitations for using VRET in a general dental practice are described and discussed.
