Abstract
This thesis is a study of how Judas Iscariot was represented in Jesus films between 1902 and 2004. The portrayal of Judas in the Last Supper scene was analysed within the context of each film, as well as from cultural and theological perspectives. This research has demonstrated that the changing representations of Judas serve as an index to Christian anti-Semitism, which has been replaced by a more sympathetic understanding of Judas and of Jews more generally in the light of post-Holocaust theological reflection.
