Abstract

The world has experienced and is experiencing unprecedented consecutive crises in a form of a vicious cycle, profoundly impacting individuals, institutions, and the environment. In his keynote address, Prof. Pawar reviews the nature and impact of the coronavirus pandemic, natural disasters, wars and conflicts, and the responses of the market and economy. Through his reflections on these crises, he shares core learnings to enhance sustainable development efforts. An analysis is presented to argue a compelling case for participatory individuals and communities, responsible politics, and strengthening accountable institutions that universally focus on peacebuilding, targeted support, reducing inequality, and innovation and adaptation to sustaining the environment.
