Abstract
Recent publications have recognised the need for more theory in the field of library and information science; however there has been little to encourage the construction of theories or offer guidance in how to create information theory. This article provides an example of how a contemplative review of extant research and literature can be used to develop a theoretical model related to information access in order to demonstrate how others may take similar steps to enhance theory-building in the field of library and information science.
