Laboratory testing of whole blood viscosity: the issues of sensitivity and specificity

Ezekiel Nwose

Research output: Book/ReportBook

Abstract

The book is a compilation of a laboratory-based translational research series done on whole blood viscosity (WBV). The theoretical framework is based on WBV being synonymous to blood stasis; and the significance is in the context of blood circulation dynamics, cardiovascular risk and prophylactic antiplatelet intervention. Except for the introductory and concluding chapters, every other chapter represents one of the peer-reviewed articles. This book is suitable for primary healthcare and bench-side application, especially for establishment and monitoring of indication for antiplatelet therapy. It is particularly useful in low-mid income communities where the extrapolation chart could come at no extra cost and also as an alternative to INR in anticoagulation monitoring.
