Led through grief: Old Testament responses to crisis

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

Article written in honour of Dr John De Gruchy, inspired by his publication 'Led into Mystery' written following the death of his son. In it he writes 'not everyone owns grief in the same way'. This article is an exploration of five different biblical responses to crisis: Job (the solidarity of silence and presence), Lamentations (contained grief), priestly literature (confessional praxis), prophetic literature (analysing grief), and Lament Psalms (making space for grief in worship).
