Abstract
Spaces, street spaces of speech is the second volume of a collection of research papers on "The role of youth in the City. The first volume is titled From school to work? This collection follows a symposium held in Paris on 27 and 28 February 2004 on the theme "Youth in Crisis, their place in the political and the City", which incorporates some of the contributions. Thrown into the mix of empirical and theoretical research over from different disciplines. The text focuses on the lifestyles of young people as their aspirations, their policies are intended but also on the assumptions that guide these policies, particularly the category "youth in difficulty". The various approaches in these two books are gray areas arise and new questions challenging both social policies towards youth that the world of research. Spaces, street spaces speech focuses on the perspective of young people from working classes and the strategies they develop to deal with their "difficulties". The authors attempt to restore the experience of social situations faced by these young people: stereotypes and stigma, poor living conditions, public interventions "targeted" ... They explore life in the cities of social housing, everyday devices socio-educational, cultural spaces invested ... The City youth know how to use the street space as "arena of socialization. They show themselves as capable of participating in the construction of collective spaces where their words will be taken into account. In addition to this localized analysis of interactions between young people and their environment are examined social determinants of "street culture" and their evolution over the last thirty years.
